This Victorian English bone china bow is a slop bowl form a tea service. These useful items had all but disappeared by the 1870s. Once they were an essential p[art of a tea set. They were for emptying the residue, the slops, from a cup of tea before refilling it with fresh tea. This one has dentil (tooth) gilt border, and is decorated with three coloured coastal scenes.
