This wonderful circular oil painting on board was once a table top, a souvenir for the rich, from Marburg. The painted table would have been for decoration, not use. The base would have been gilded. It is expertly painted and is inscribed "Marxburg on the Rhine after Richardson". The Schloss Marburg is on the hill, and it has changed little since then(see inset) The edge of the painting is gilded so no frame is necessary. It has hanging wire.
