Of the Arts and Crafts Period C 1906. This piece is signed and dated on the back—M. E. Coulthard. 1906. Research shows that this is possibly the daughter of the legendary George Coulthard. Her name was Mary Ellen and would have been in her twenties in 1906. George was a famous footballer and cricketer the late 1800’s. He led the Carlton Football club to a premiership in 1877.He was an inaugural inductee into the Australian Football Hall of Fame. This hand carved frame is a beautiful piece of Australiana made by the daughter of a Famous Nineteenth Century Victorian Footballer-G .Coulthard.
