French Empire Bureau desk 1820

Antique French Empire Secretaire bureau desk in highly figured flame mahogany veneer on oak case . Solid marble top rests on a full width drawer with ormolu mounts. The fall front desk below is flanked by ormolu caryatid supports and opens to reveal internal drawers and columns flanking a central cabinet space all in flame mahogany. The inlaid leather writing surface appears to be the original with traces or gold leaf tooling. Ormolu escutcheons and original working lock and key. The interior writing surface opens to desk height 73cm, depth 53 cm. French original Paris Empire 1820-1825
