Drapery or a swag back Regency chairs are rare. These George III mahogany examples are robust and the upholstery is in good condition. Drop-in seats are easy to recover. The legs are reeded. The curved ergonomically successful spade back is enhanced by carving of a drapery swag. The carved stylized tulip between the spade and the swag adds a bit of Turkish flair, reminding us of the strong influence the Ottoman Empire had on Regency design. While the condition over all is excellent, there has been a good repair on one spade where the edge had obviously been damaged. It is barely noticeable.
