Antique French Empire dining chair in the manner of Jacob Desmalter 1805 heavy mahogany with pegged joints.
This chair is likely a 20th century bespoke made chair of a very heavy dense timber like honduras or cuban mahogany possibly to exactly match an original.
The joints are superbly made with precision and are all pegged in the traditional french manner of the period.
Carved Empire leaf and wreath designs to top of chair back and seat rail. Fluted pilaster column back ending in sabre rear legs and tapering front legs terminating in lions paw feet. Seat H47cm with springs for comfort.
