Margaret Olley and Margaret Cilento both grew up in Brisbane. Olley spent many afternoons sketching with Margaret at Lady Cilento and Sir Raphael Cilento’s big Queenslander house. They both went on to study at East Sydney Technical College (now the National Art School) and travelled and painted together in Paris, London and New York. When they returned to live in Australia, Margaret Cilento used to stay in Sydney at Olley’s house in Duxford Street in Paddington. Both artists' work is held in major public galleries. This is a pen sketch of Olley cooking Margaret and Diane Cilento lunch at home.
