This medal was made as souvenir for ascending the Eiffel Tower and was designed by Charles Trotin (1833-1904). The original owner, Tas van Bossom, who climbed it 1889, liked it so much he had his name engraved on the reverse. The obverse shows the Eiffel Tower in comparison with other well known structures from around the world, and the details of its construction are shown above it. It measures 40 mm (1.5 inches) in diameter and is 4 mm (1/8th of an inch) thick at the rim. It is in reasonably good condition.
