Probably designed as a paperweight, this small bronze sculpture shows a bagpipe player sitting on a stool, next to ma hollow tree stump. The patter probably served to hold spills (small rolled pieces of scrap paper or twigs used to transfer fire between candles etc,) or sealing wax. The sculpture is charming and well observed.
