Georgian bureau desk black gilt 1770

Antique Georgian 1770 bureau writing desk fitted interior and solid bronze handles hand polished black japan finish and gold leaf details . The carved Chippendale slope top desk with gold leaf mouldings opens with a steel key and is supported by rare automatic support rails on either side of a shallow drawer. These are moved forward automatically by ingenious iron hinge system when the writing surface is opened and pulled down. The interior with 10 drawers and compartments all in perfect working condition. Ther is also a hidden secret compartment . Four drawers below the desk top.
