Superbly detailed Japanese meiji bronze of A "Oni" ( Devil, Demon) with A steel grey patination . This low relief vase has a Oni in a storm carrying a shamisen(Musical Instument). If you look closely he is also carrying a book signed( Hogachyo )meaning note book / accounting book on his wrist which would Perhaps suggest a book for a list of names for the after life.

18th century Edo Japanse Lacquer Kogo. This Lovely Piece Is Decorated In Fine Nashiji With A Coin Shaped Mon To The Lid And With Maple Leaf Decoration. It Has Applied Pewter Rims, The Japanese Love The Sound These Rims Make When Closing, When Used In A Tea Ceremony. The Kogo Was Used In These Ceremonies To Store Incense.

  Small Hindu masks
Small Hindu masks
A complete set of small masks from the seven mother goddesses of Nepal, called Sapta Matrikas, accompanied by Bhairav and Ganesha the elephant-headed deity as the god of wisdom and success. These masks are made in hammered brass and are hanged on the wooden chariots at Festival time in the Kathmandu valley. Each mask does have a small hook at the back. Nepal, Ca 1970. Most probably from left to right : 1) Bhairav 2) Vaishnavi, 3) Vajra Varahi 4) Rudrani 5) Ganesha 6) Chamunda 7) Kaumari, 8) Brahmyani 9) Indrani. Heights vary from 16 to 22 cm
