Large antique oil on canvas after Rembrandt portrait of the nobleman Floris Soop The Standard Bearer. This important early 18th century painting is after the famous work by Rembrandt van Rijn entitled The Standard Bearer , Floris Soop (1604-1657). The golden sash is a tooled leather baldric or sword belt and indicates the figure to be an ensign of Amsterdamn's civic guard companies. Floris Soop was a wealthy man and was a connoisseur of the art world collecting over 140 paintings in his life time as well as a portrait by Rembrandt.
