Antique Scandinavian Empire hand painted longcase clock early 19th century. Danish Gustavian grandfather clock with carved hand painted pale green case with original working 8 day movement. The tall case in typical late Gustavian with carved pierced gothic fretwork top and painted patina finish. The clock case of the provincial Empire manner and of neoclassical design stems from the island of Bornholm Denmark. The 8 day brass clock mechanism with top mounted large bell and twin cast iron weights. The bell strikes the hour count. A long brass pendulum is housed within the case.
