18th Century, Louis XV Chapeau de Gendarme Armoire. Circa 1765 Made of solid cherrywood , the origin of this Armoire is attested by the presence of the “Chapeau de Gendarme” shaped cornice, traditional of Sth Provence, Avignon region. The shaped cornice, above decorated pediment of fine carvings of C scrolled foliate motifs and richly carved outsized bouquet of Spring flowers and foliate motifes, traditional to the region. The two doors each with three C scrolled carved panels and shaped apron, decorated with high relief bouquets of flowers and foliate motifs, The center panels
