Georgian oak spice cabinet 1740 wallhung

Antique provincial Georgian wall hung oak spice cabinet with single door and drawer with wonderful 18th century patina circa 1740 . Rare carved arch top and baroque panel door sets this apart from other simpler wall cabinets. Usually made for the newly married couple these spice cabinets were given as a wedding present and were designed to keep the highly prized spices and precious silver spoons well away from inquisitive young fingers. The cupboard would have been hung from a wall in pride of place. A single door opens with a steel key to original working lock and steel hinges.
