Antique French Louis XIV cast bronze inkwell with baroque heraldic lion rampant and monopodia supports and incised details.
The heraldic lion holds a shield atop the inkwell lid.
Usually these inkwells have a replacable glass or ceramic insert.
There is no insert to this but they are easily acquired online.
The round baroque fountain shape of the well is surrounded in the by 3 angels complete with spread wings in the Italian manner and terminate with monopodia feet giving great sturdiness to the impressive desk top object. French mid 19th century.
