Award-winning artist Robert Waden's beautiful 1924 "Mornington Farm" is full of dappled light with a wonderful impasto technique depicting an atmospheric cloudy sky, an old farmhouse with red doors and sunlit fields. Born in Adelaide in 1900, he studied under James Ashton, winning London's Royal Drawing Society's Gold Medal, and with Sir William Ashton, a director of the Art Gallery of Nsw. Waden's work is held in private and public collections, including the National Gallery of South Australia. A recent landscape of his sold at Sotheby's for $8,400.
