Engraved in London for Hervey's Naval History in 1760 , this original period print depicts the takiing for the largest of French naval vessels . This engraving is after a painting by Francis Swain circa 1760. Note that in an engraving of the period will be a mirror opposite the the original painting , such was the process and limitations of the time.
Mounted in gilt wooden frame and under glass.
